About

Welcome to Milk & Honey!
Treats and tales from a suburban girl’s country kitchen

I’m Erin, aka – The Milkman’s Wife.

By day, I’m one of those nameless, faceless cube dwellers. A slave to my ever-ringing phone. Keeper of all-important spreadsheets. Expert copy machine un-jammer. By night (and by weekend), I’m a fearless kitchen crusader. A badass baker. A wild woman wielding a whisk and bowl – throwing caution to the wind and just cooking. The reason? I like it.

These are my adventures. My hits. My misses. My chuckles and giggles. My old memories and new lessons.

For me, food and life are so closely intertwined, they cannot be separated. That’s why, here at Milk & Honey, you’re going to get a little of both. A tasty helping of great eats served up alongside a peek inside the inner workings of a newlywed adjusting to life in a Flyover State.

Meet my husband, Eric. Aka – The Milkman. My rock. My best friend. My ever-enthusiastic taste-tester. Giver of unyielding support and gentle pushes. Keeper of the Charm-Your-Pants-Off smile. He’s kind of like Superman. A dirty, country boy Superman. See?

Little known fact: Not only is the Milkman a member of the Gray Pocket Tee Club, he’s also the President.

Anyway. About this blog. I’m not really into methodology and precision. In life and in the kitchen. I’m not at all interested in seriousness and straight faces.  I’m not an expert and don’t claim to be. I just like food. Making it, eating it and sharing it with others.  In my kitchen, smiles are plentiful and laughs are loud and of the belly variety. The beer is cold and the food is comforting.

Same rules apply to my blog. Thanks so much for visiting. I hope you see something you like. If you do, pull up a seat at the table and hang out for a while. Don’t worry about bringing anything – I’ve got the food covered.

Hi — I wanted to let you know about an event I am starting on my blog From the French Kitchen (thefrenchkitchen.wordpress.com). I’ll be “touring” other food and cooking blogs, interviewing the blogger, and making 3 to 4 of your favorite recipes from your blog. I hope you’ll take a look at the information and submit a form to be considered for a “stop” on the tour! Tour Information: tourblogsadmin.wordpress.com

    Thanks!

    Hi, Erin,

I saw your mom last night for dinner and she mentioned that you have this blog. I had to check it out. And, of course, it is totally awesome! I’m very impressed with your writing and, most definitely, your cooking abilities. Would you say your mom or your dad was your biggest influence for taking up cooking? Or do you have another mentor? This is so wonderful. Keep up the great work!
